Onsite activities. A former pigeonnier, our games room includes table tennis, table football, children’s toys and a book exchange. We also have a library of DVD’s available.
The large area of lawn lying central to the grounds is bordered by the cottages, creating a pleasant village green atmosphere. It is a perfect play area for all sorts of outdoor games including boules and croquet, volleyball and kwik cricket. There is a swing set for the younger children and we also offer bicycle hire.
Social events. “Our sun terrace has spectacular south facing views across the valley. This comfortable seating area is a natural magnet for guests to relax and savour early evening drinks whilst absorbing the unique atmosphere of the historical site. At the same time this provides the opportunity to make new friends and exchange stories with your fellow guests in the most convivial of environments.
We can also facilitate arrangements for a birthday or other celebrations if required.
The delightful village of St Hilaire de Villefranche is a 3 minute car ride away (10 minutes by bicycle) and offers traditional village facilities including boulangeries, shops, post office, café / bars, restaurant, bank and a pharmacy.

While the Charente Maritime offers many attractions and places of interest to visit, Le Vieux Monastery is a perfect place to soak up the sun and relax. Take a look at what we have to offer: Our 12mx6m heated swimming pool has shallow steps for easy access, a heated shower and a sun terrace with a view of the countryside and it is illuminated at night. There are lounge chairs and patio furniture. The swimming pool is completely closed to prevent access of unaccompanied young people. The pool is heated to 28 degrees from May to October, making it an ideal choice for early and late season vacations.
